Rachel Pranger Earns Valley Player Of The Week Honors

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Sophomore outside hitter Rachel Pranger (Glen Carbon, Ill./Edwardsville) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week for the first time in her career after helping Bradley Volleyball wrap up fourth in the final league standings with a pair of home victories.

Pranger turned in a pair of double-doubles, averaging team highs of 4.00 kills and 5.14 digs per set, while also collecting 0.43 aces per set in the two wins. In Friday's sweep of Evansville, she tallied a match-high 19 digs and also had 12 kills, an assist, one ace and a block as Bradley locked up at least the #4 seed in the MVC Tournament with the victory.

In the regular-season finale, Pranger tied for match-high honors with 16 kills and also notched 17 digs, two aces and a block in a four-set victory against Indiana State Saturday.

The MVC Player of the Week honor is the first of Pranger's career and second of the year for the Braves, with fellow sophomore Hannah Thompson earning the award earlier this month. Bradley had two different individuals earn MVC Player of the Week honors in the same season for the first time since 2002 (Jenna Passman & Stephanie Behrns).

Pranger is second on the team this year in both kills (3.04 per set) and digs (3.37 per set). She collected 12 of her 15 double-doubles this fall in MVC play as she helped Bradley to back-to-back top-four league finishes for the first time since 2001 and 2002.

Bradley Volleyball heads to Cedar Falls, Iowa, for the 2019 MVC Tournament where the Braves will face #5 seed Valparaiso Thursday at 5 p.m. in an opening round contest.
