PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior forward Elijah Childs (Kansas City, Mo./Lee's Summit West) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after averaging 22.0 points and 11.5 rebounds in a pair of games last week.
Childs turned in a double-double in last week's game at #15 Memphis, scoring a game-high 21 points to go with 14 rebounds. He also had one assist, a block and a steal against the Tigers. He followed that up with a game-high 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting and also had nine boards and a pair of blocks in an 83-52 home victory over North Carolina A&T Saturday. A sports communication major, Childs owns a 3.29 cumulative grade point average. Â
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Childs and Bradley Men's Basketball return to action Sunday, hosting Georgia Southern in a 4 p.m. contest at Carver Arena.Â
