Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
Peoria, Ill. – The Bradley men's basketball team cruised to its third-straight win with an 81-51 victory over Georgia Southern on Sunday afternoon. The Braves improved to 8-3 on the year, while the Eagles drop to 6-4.

The victory for Bradley marks the team's third-straight by at least 30 points – a first for BU since opening with three-straight 30-point wins during the 1958-59 campaign.

Senior Darrell Brown led a Bradley offense that connected on 12-of-18 from beyond the 3-point arc in the victory (66.7 percent). Brown made 4-of-5 for a team-best 17 points to go with seven assists.

Senior Nate Kennell and freshman Ville Tahvanainen added 14 and 13 points, respectively. Bradley improved to 8-0 this season when Kennell connects on multiple 3-pointers as he was 4-of-6 in the win, while Tahvanainen finished a perfect 5-for-5 from the field and 3-for-3 from beyond the arc.

Senior Koch Bar led Bradley with 11 rebounds to go with six points and four assists.

Bradley never trailed in the game as it used a hot start for a 20-point lead at the halftime break. After an early 5-3 edge, the Braves scored the game's next 11 points for a 16-3 lead with 11:18 remaining. The BU defense held the Eagles to just 1-of-14 shooting to start the game with three turnovers in building the 13-point lead.

The Eagles would only be within single digits for 75 seconds the rest of the game. Leading 28-16, Bradley used a further 10-2 run for a 38-18 lead en route to a 42-22 advantage at the break. Bradley shot 56.7 percent in the first half with a 4-of-5 mark from 3-point range, while holding the Eagles to just 19.4 percent shooting with a 5-of-19 clip from beyond the arc.

Georgia Southern attempted to fight back but Bradley had the answer every time. After pulling within 13 points early, Kennell sunk a 3-pointer to quickly pull the momentum back. Tahvaninen then connected on all three of his triples after the halftime break as Bradley again regrouped after the Eagles were within 12. Overall, the Braves made 50 percent of their baskets in the second half, including 8-of-13 from 3-point range, en route to the 81-51 victory.

In addition to the team's hot shooting, Bradley also finished with a 45-29 edge on the glass, while recording 23 assists to just 10 turnovers against one of the nation's top teams at forcing miscues.

Bradley looks to continue its hot play with a road game at Miami (Ohio) next Saturday. First tip is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
