ST. LOUIS – For the second time this year, Bradley freshman Bozana Lojpur (Burnaby, B.C./Burnaby Mountain Secondary School) has been selected the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Lojpur now has been recognized by The Valley three times this year as she was first named the Singles Player of the Week Jan. 22, then teamed with senior Malini Wijesinghe for the Doubles Team-of-the-Week honor Feb. 5.  She becomes the first Bradley Tennis player recognized by The Valley three times in one season and her three honors are second only to five-time MVC Player of the Week Ariel Dechter (2014-17) for the most career weekly awards from the league office.

Lojpur continued her stellar freshman season by posting Bradley's only 2-0 record in singles play during its weekend split against UIC and SIU Edwardsville at the Clubs at River City.  Playing No. 2 Singles, where she now boasts a 6-2 record during the dual match season, Lojpur posted a 6-4, 6-2 victory Friday against UIC, at the time pulling the Braves into a 1-1 tie in the eventual 5-2 loss.  She followed up with a dominant 6-2, 6-1 victory in Sunday's 4-1 team win against SIUE, pushing Bradley's lead to 3-0 at the time of her finish.

Lojpur now is tied for second on the team with 13 overall singles victories this year and her six wins during the dual match season already are tied for the ninth-most in the No. 2 playing position in program history.  Her efforts have helped the Braves (6-2) surpass last year's final win total (5-15) and have Bradley Tennis in position for the best 10-match start in the program's 42-year history heading into this weekend's home dual matches.

The Braves will host in-state rivals Western Illinois Saturday (12 p.m.) and Chicago State Sunday (2 p.m.) at the Clubs at River City.  While a split would give Bradley seven wins in its first 10 matches for the first time since 2014-15 (7-3), a weekend sweep would put the Braves at 8-2 for the first time since 1992-93.  As the 1992-93 start included three wins against lower-division competition, Bradley never has won eight of its first 10 matches against NCAA Division I competition in the program's 42-year history.

Admission is FREE for all Bradley Tennis regular-season home matches.
