Bradley Track Heads to Iowa State and GVSU

The Bradley track and field teams are set to compete in a pair of meets this weekend, running in the Iowa State Classic on Friday and Saturday in addition to the GVSU Big Meet on Friday.
 

MEET INFO
Bradley is slated for the two-day Iowa State Classic with 10 Braves running at the meet. Will Anderson and Jake Hoffert open the action in the 5,000m run on Friday, while Michael Ward is also set for the 3,000m in the first day of competition. On day two, McKenzie Altmayer, Niamh Markham and Haran Dunderdale will run the mile, while Kathryn Adelman, Alec Hartman, Scott Seymour and David Shadid are all set for the 800m.
 
The remaining Braves are set for the GVSU Big Meet on Friday with the action set to begin at 9 a.m. CT.
 
Both meets will feature a live webcast in addition to live results.
 

LAST YEAR AT IOWA STATE & GVSU
David Shadid highlighted the action for the Braves last year, breaking his own school record in the 400m dash at Iowa State.
 
Other highlights at Iowa State included Daniel Gagne running the second-fastest mile in school history at 4:01.33 to place third overall of 46 runners, while Hannah Witczak led the BU women in the 3,000m run at 9:56.05.
 
At Grand Valley State, Will Anderson set his PR in the 5,000m run and posted the fourth-fastest time in school history at 14:23.77, while Natalie Burant clocked the sixth-best mark in the Bradley record book for the women at 17:04.97.
 

MVC RANKINGS
With just two weeks until the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championship, the Braves find themselves 26 times in the conference's top-10 rankings.
 
Junior Alec Hartman and senior Michael Ward highlight the men's team by each placing first and leading a strong Bradley contingent in their respective events. Hartman leads the Valley in the 800m run, with David Shadid and Scott Seymour second and third, respectively. Ward owns the top time in the MVC in the 3,000m as Jake Hoffert is second and Will Anderson is fifth.
 
Other highlights for the BU include Haran Dunderdale ranking third in the mile and Jack Franklin placing second in the 5,000m run.
 
Freshman Tyler Schwartz leads the Bradley women by placing first in the 5,000m run as five Braves overall rank in the top 10 – Natalie Burant (3rd), Gabby Juarez (5th), Abby Jockisch (6th) and Morgan Lain (9th).
 
Three additional Braves own top-five times on the women's side. McKenzie Altmayer is third in the 3,000m run, while Niamh Markham is fifth in both the 800m and mile.
 

UP NEXT
In their final tune up for the Missouri Valley Conference Championship, the Braves will compete at the Alex Wilson Invitational on the campus of Notre Dame on Saturday.
