Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
Peoria, Ill. – The Bradley men's basketball team blitzed visiting Indiana State early and never let up, leading wire-to-wire in a 96-67 victory on Saturday night. The Braves have now won five of their last seven and improve to 13-12 overall and 5-7 against Missouri Valley Conference foes, while the Sycamores drop to 12-12 and 4-8 in league play.

The 29-point win is the largest in Valley play for Bradley in 13 years, while the 92 points scored are the most versus a conference foe in regulation in 12 seasons.

Junior Darrell Brown remained hot and led Bradley with 26 points – connecting on 9-of-15 field goals and a career-best six 3-pointers (in just nine attempts). Freshman Ja'Shon Henry also had the best game of his young career, scoring a season-best 17 points (eight more than his previous high) to go with five boards.

Junior Nate Kennell chipped in 16 points – making all four of his shots from beyond the arc. Seniors Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye and Luqman Lundy paced the attack with six assists apiece, while classmate Luuk van Bree collected a team-leading seven boards.

The Braves wrote the game story in the first two minutes and carried it the rest of the way for its largest win of the year. Bradley made its first three 3-pointers to go with a pair of free throws to sprint to an 11-0 lead. Lundy knocked down his first of the game and was followed by a triple from Brown before van Bree added the next five points and BU never looked back.

Indiana State was only as close as eight points the rest of the game. The Braves fully took control during the last seven minutes of the opening half – using a 22-7 run to turn a 12-point advantage into a 27-point game, doubling up the Sycamores, 54-27, at the halftime break. Brown tallied 11 points during the final stretch, including eight points on the last three possessions as he knocked down back-to-back triples followed by a driving layup to complete the dominating first half.

Bradley made 62.5 percent of its shots in the opening half, including a 75.0 percent clip from 3-point range (9-of-12). Brown led all scorers with 19 points in the first 20 minutes of action, making 5-of-6 from beyond the arc.

The second half wasn't much different for BU. Bradley added five more triples for a season-best total of 14 and led by as many as 37 before finishing off the 96-67 victory.

Bradley made 56.9 percent of its baskets with a 14-of-25 clip from 3-point range, while also controlling the boards, 44-27. The Braves, meanwhile, held Indiana State to just 38.3 percent shooting with a 6-of-22 mark from beyond the arc.

Bradley looks to maintain its momentum on Wednesday when it hosts Loyola. First tip at Carver Arena is set for 7 p.m.
