WINTER HAVEN, FL – Bradley junior 3B Brendan Dougherty broke a 3-3 tie by hitting a leadoff triple and scoring on an Eli Rawlinson sacrifice fly and junior SS Luke Shadid banged out three hits and contributed to five runs, leading the Braves (10-6) to a 6-3 win against Dartmouth Thursday morning at Chain of Lakes Park.

Playing away from home throughout the start of the 2019 season, Bradley now has won four of its first five series of the year.  The Braves took 2-of-3 games at Central Arkansas, in the SAF Dirt Classic in Tennessee, at UT San Antonio and now against Dartmouth in the midweek series as part of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.

Luke Shadid was 3-for-4 and was pivotal in helping the Braves build a 3-0 lead from his leadoff spot.  He singled and scored on brother Andy Shadid's 2-out single in the first, homered in the third and walked and scored on Dan Bolt's sacrifice fly in the fifth.  Luke Shadid added a 2-run single in the eighth, finishing with three runs scored and three RBI's.

Senior LHP Cole Cook worked five scoreless innings to start the game, before running into trouble in the sixth, when the Big Green batted around, scoring three runs on three hits and three walks in the inning against Cook and reliever Jed Moscot.  After walking the first two batters he faced in the sixth, Moscot (2-1) worked retired six of the next seven batters he faced and that seventh was thrown out trying to steal in the seventh.

After Dartmouth pulled even with its sixth-inning uprising, the Braves reclaimed the lead in the seventh after Dougherty, one of the nation's leaders in triples, legged out his fourth 3-bagger of the year to open the inning.  He scored the go-ahead run two batters later when Rawlinson lined a fly ball to center field.

Bradley scored a pair of insurance runs in the eighth after Keaton Rice started the inning with a walk.  Jean-Francois Garon beat out a bunt single and Luke Shadid came through two outs later with his third hit of the day, a 2-run single to center field.

Senior RHP Allan Beer worked around a 1-out walk and 2-out single in the ninth to lock down his fourth save of the year.

Having won three of their first four games at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational, the Braves will have a day off before completing the trip with a Saturday afternoon game against Rowan (NJ).  Bradley then will complete its 18-game, season-opening road swing by visiting Iowa Tuesday, before opening the home slate Wednesday night against MacMurray.
