Braves Track Set for NC State and EIU

The Bradley track teams continue the outdoor season with a pair of meets this weekend. The team will split its focus when it competes at the Raleigh Relays in North Carolina as well as the EIU Big Blue Classic on Friday and Saturday.
 

MEET INFO
The Braves will compete with some of the nation's best in North Carolina at the Raleigh Relays. Most of the team making the trip is set to run on Friday with the action beginning at 9 a.m. CT for BU in the 5,000m run. Bradley will also feature in the 400m, 800m, 1,500m, 3,000m steeplechase and 10,000m in Friday's action with 16 different Braves set to compete.
 
On Saturday, Alec Hartman is set for the 800m invitational at 1:15 p.m. CT.
 
The Braves are also set for the EIU Big Blue Classic on Friday and Saturday, competing in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m, 3,000m steeplechase, 5,000m, 100m hurdles, 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles over the two-day meet. Action begins on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with the Braves being joined by the host Panthers, IUPUI, UIC and Western Michigan.
 

2018 WEEK TWO RECAP
The Braves are competing at the EIU Big Blue Classic for the sixth-straight season but is making its first trip to North Carolina this early in the season since the 2009 campaign when it competed at Duke.
 
Last year, BU competed at the Stanford Invitational and San Francisco State Distance Carnival. Haran Dunderdale ran his first steeplechase in two years with a time of 9:04.66 at Stanford, while Alec Hartman made his 1,500 debut. At San Francisco, Niamh Markham posted the eighth-best 1,500m in school history to lead BU.
 
At Eastern Illinois, nine Braves recorded top-10 times with David Shadid highlighting the action by claiming the 400m crown. Four of the top-10 finishers from a year ago are returning to the Big Blue Classic this week – Kathryn Adelman (800m), Emma Makowski (800m) Nick Porter (1,500m) and Michael Hahndorf (5,000m).
 

SIU RECAP
The Braves claimed three titles during the outdoor opener one week ago at Southern Illinois.
Alec Hartman won the 800m run, Haran Dunderdale crossed the finish line in first in the 1,500m and Evan Mitchell claimed the title in the 3,000m steeplechase.
 
Overall, 19 Braves posted top-10 finishes in the opener. McKenzie Altmayer led the BU women with a second-place finish in the 1,500m run in 4:39.23 – topping her rookie season PR by more than 14 seconds.
 

UP NEXT
The Braves are back in action next weekend, traveling to Indiana State for the Gibson Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
