PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore pitcher Brooks Gosswein (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping Bradley Baseball win a three-game series at Texas-San Antonio.

The winning pitcher in Saturday's 3-2 victory over UTSA which secured the series win, Gosswein picked up his first win of the year.  He limited the Roadrunners to two runs, one earned on just two hits in 6.0 innings as he struck out three and walked three.  This season, Gosswein has a team-high 14.2 innings pitched and has held hitters to a .163 batting average.  An accounting major, Gosswein owns a 3.73 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Gosswein and Bradley Baseball return to action this weekend, opening a three-game series at UNLV Friday with an 8 p.m. contest against the Rebels.
