Rare Trip West of the Rockies

Bradley Baseball will travel west of the Rocky Mountains for just the fifth time in program history when the Braves visit UNLV this weekend

WEEK FOUR ... ON THE ROAD AGAIN
•    Bradley Baseball will continue its season-opening, 18-game road swing this weekend by visiting UNLV for a 3-game series in Las Vegas.
•    The Braves are tied for second nationally with six true road wins, trailing only Missouri Valley Conference rival Illinois State (7-3) for the most true road victories in the nation.
•    Boston College (6-2), Portland (6-4) and Samford (6-2), join the Braves with six true road wins through Tuesday's action.
•    While UNLV will be playing its eighth, ninth and 10th home games of the season, Bradley is not scheduled to play its 10th home game of the year until April 10 against Iowa.

RARE TRIP WEST OF THE ROCKIES
•    Bradley Baseball is making just its fifth trip west of the Rocky Mountains:
1992 - 6 games in San Jose, CA (3-2-1)
2000 - 4 games at UCLA (0-3), CS Dominguez Hills (0-1)
2007 - 6 games at Hawai'i-Hilo (6-0)
2013 - 4 games in Rebel Classic (1-3)
•    In the program's 119-year history, the Braves own a 10-9-1 record in games played west of the Rockies.

SERIES HISTORY
Overall:  UNLV leads 1-0
•    The teams have met only one previous time on the baseball diamond - an 8-6 UNLV victory Feb. 28, 2013 during the Rebel Classic.

AGAINST THE MOUNTAIN WEST CONFERENCE
•    In its 119-yer baseball history, Bradley has played a total of just seven games against the current Mountain West Conference membership.
•    The Braves are 2-4-1 against the Mountain West with six of the seven games played as true road contests.
•    Since playing five games against New Mexico during the 1982 and 1983 seasons, Bradley has played only two games against the current Mountain West membership in the last 36 years - a 6-0 win against Air Force in the 2011 RussMatt Baseball Central Florida Invitational and the 8-6 loss at UNLV in 2013.

HALL OF FAME NOTES
•    UNLV's Sunday starting pitcher is slated to be Chase Maddux, the son of Baseball Hall of Famer Greg Maddux.
•    Fellow HOF'er Kirby Puckett attended Bradley University in 1981.
•    Greg Maddux pitched in Peoria, IL as a minor leaguer rising through the Chicago Cubs organization, spending the 1985 season with the Class A Midwest League Peoria Chiefs.
•    Now Bradley Soccer's home venue and re-named Shea Stadium, Bradley Baseball shared then Meinen Field with the Chiefs during Maddux's 1985 season in Peoria.
•    In the only non-spring training matchup, Maddux induced a ground ball from Puckett in the 1994 All-Star Game.
