LAS VEGAS – Junior shortstop Luke Shadid led off the game with a home run and by the time the game was over, he had produced the first cycle by a Bradley player on record in the program's 119-year history, leading Bradley (7-4) to an 8-5 win against host UNLV (8-7) Saturday afternoon at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.

Coming on the heels of Friday's 15-inning marathon, Shadid homered in the first inning, singled in the second, singled and scored in the fourth, tripled in the sixth and doubled and scored in the eighth.  After flying out to end the top of the ninth, Shadid finished 5-for-6 with a stolen base, three runs scored and two runs driven in from his leadoff spot.

Shadid's blast to open the game gave the Braves a lead they would never relinquish.  His 2-out, RBI single in the fourth inning gave the Braves a 3-1 lead and when he doubled and scored in the eighth, he extended Bradley's lead to 8-4.

Shadid's efforts set the tone for the top of the Bradley lineup.  The first three hitters for the Braves combined to go 10-for-14 with seven extra-base hits and six runs scored.  Bradley banged out 14 hits overall and seven different players drove in at least one of the eight runs.  For the second game in a row, 3B Brendan Dougherty roped a double and a triple, and junior OF Dan Bolt laced two doubles in a 3-for-4 effort.

The offensive effort came in support of pitchers Brooks Gosswein, who earned the win from his starting spot, and Jed Moscot, who went 3.0 innings to earn his first Bradley save.  Gosswein (2-1) scattered 10 hits in his 6.0 innings, allowing four runs, two earned, with two walks and two strikeouts.  Moscot allowed one run on one hit with one walk and three strikeouts in his 3.0 innings.

Having evened the 3-game series with Saturday's victory, Bradley will attempt to win its fourth weekend in as many tries when the teams play Sunday's 3:05 p.m. CT series finale.  Senior RHP Sam Lund is scheduled to make the pitching start for the Braves Sunday.
