PEORIA, IL – With only one position to fill on its 2019-20 roster following the graduation of current senior Malini Wijesinghe, Bradley Tennis held its lone spot in the current recruiting class for a special player.  Head coach Matt Tyler today announced he has filled that spot with nationally-ranked Victoria Sánchez Bronzetti (Barcelona, Spain/ES International School, Naples, FL), who has signed her National Letter of Intent to attend Bradley University and play tennis for the Braves in 2019-20.

Sánchez Bronzetti comes from a famous tennis family, but has established her own credentials on the court.  Rated a 3-star recruit by TennisRecruiting.net, she currently is ranked as the No. 30 overall player from the state of Florida and No. 234 nationally.  She has been ranked as high as No. 209 during the 2019 season and climbed to No. 205 nationally in 2018.

"I could not be more excited to welcome Victoria to our Bradley Tennis family," said Tyler.  "She is an outstanding player and student, who will immediately make a positive impact.  I believe that she has an amazing career in front of her as a Bradley Brave."

Sánchez Bronzetti is the daughter of former professional player Emelio Sánchez Vicario, a five-time grand slam doubles and mixed doubles champion who captained Spain to the 2008 Davis Cup title.  In addition, Emelio Sánchez Vicario won the silver medal in Men's Doubles at the 1988 Olympic Games.  Sánchez Bronzetti also is the niece of Arantxa Sánchez Vicario, the former world No. 1 ranked WTA player who compiled a total of 14 grand slam singles, doubles and mixed doubles championships.

Sánchez Bronzetti trains at her father's academy, Academia Sánchez-Casal, in Naples, FL, where she attends the academy's ES International School.  ASC also operates tennis training academies in Barcelona, Spain and Nanjing, China, boasting grand slam champions Sveta Kuznetsova and Andy Murray among its alumni.

Bradley (12-7, 1-1 MVC) returns to action Sunday, when the Braves visit Missouri State for a Missouri Valley Conference dual match.  Bradley will close out the regular season by hosting Valley rivals Drake April 20 and UNI April 21 at the David Markin Tennis Courts.
