DALLAS – Dallas Baptist scored early in the first game and late in the second to complete a doubleheader sweep against Bradley (24-12, 4-5 MVC) Saturday at Horner Ballpark.

The Patriots (27-12, 6-3) scored in each of the first four innings, highlighted by a 5-run second inning, en route to a 14-3 win in seven innings in Saturday's opener to end Bradley's 12-game winning streak.  The hosts then scored twice with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to rally for a 7-6 win in the nightcap.  Dallas Baptist collected nine 2-out hits in the second game, scoring all seven runs with two outs.

Bradley junior LF Dan Bolt had a big day at the plate for the Braves, collecting two hits with a home run included in each game to extend his hitting streak to 14 games.  Bolt's home run in the fourth inning of the first game got the Braves on the board for the first time and he added a 3-run blast in the first inning of the second game to get Bradley off to a quick start.  He now leads the team with eight home runs.

The Braves began the day leading the nation with a 2.18 staff earned run average, but that mark took a hit Saturday as all 21 runs in the 15 combined innings by the eight hurlers were earned.  Sophomore LHP Brooks Gosswein (4-3) took the loss in the opener, issuing four walks that led to three runs in his lone inning of work.  Senior LHP Cole Cook (4-1) suffered his first loss in the nightcap by allowing four runs on six hits in his 3.2 innings.

Cook was in position to earn the relief win, but fell victim to DBU's 2-out magic in the eighth.  Cook surrendered a leadoff double and a walk, but got the inning's first out by fielding a bunt and throwing the lead runner out at third.  Senior RHP Allan Beer took over with runners at first and second with one out and induced a foul out, but the Patriots got consecutive seeing-eye singles from Bryce Ball and Jimmy Glowenke to reclaim the lead.

Bradley had taken a 6-5 lead in the top of the eighth on Luke Shadid's RBI double to plate Nick McMurray, who drew a 1-out walk, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error.

Bradley will make a quick return home to host Illinois Tuesday night, then hit the road for another Missouri Valley Conference series next weekend at Missouri State.  The Braves will be trying for a season sweep against the Illini after earning a 12-8 win this past Tuesday in Champaign.
