ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Junior catcher/designated player Kealia Wysocki has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week after helping Bradley Softball to a 4-1 record last week according to an announcement by the league office Monday afternoon.

Wysocki, who earned MVC Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, is the first Bradley Softball player to earn either MVC Player or Pitcher of the Week recognition twice in the same season since Madeline Lynch-Crumrine was a two-time Valley Pitcher of the Week selection in 2013.

In fact, Wysocki is the first Brave to earn a pair of Valley Player of the Week honors in the same season dating back to Bradley Hall of Fame member Beth Hawkins in 1986.

Wysocki hit a team-best .500 last week, helping the Braves move into third in the Valley standings.  Five of her eight hits went for extra bases, including two homers and she scored twice in addition to driving in six runs to help Bradley average 7.2 runs per contest in the five outings.  Wysocki also boasted a .529 on base percentage and 1.125 slugging percentage for the week.

Collecting hits in all five contests with three multi-hit outings last week, Wysocki started the week by collecting one of just three Bradley hits in Tuesday's setback to Illinois State.  She helped highlight a 9-1 victory in the nightcap against the Redbirds, hitting a two-run homer in the third and closing the game with a two-run triple in the fifth in a 2-for-3 outing.

In the series opener against Indiana State she was 1-for-3 with a second-inning single and helped keep a sixth-inning rally alive with a walk to load the bases in the eventual 8-6 Bradley victory.  Wysocki was a combined 4-for-7 in Sunday's doubleheader sweep of the Sycamores, going 2-for-4 with a RBI and two doubles in an 8-7 win as she drove in the eventual game-winning run with a two-out double in the sixth.  She collected two of Bradley's first three hits in the finale in a 2-for-3 effort.  Wysocki got Bradley's first hit of the contest with a second-inning single and her game-tying solo homer in the fourth was her 12th of the season to tie the Bradley season home run record as the Braves went on to complete the series sweep of Indiana State with a 10-2 victory.

Wysocki has helped Bradley to its most victories since 2014 and the Braves enter the final weekend of the regular season one win short of matching the school record for conference wins.  She leads the team with a .375 average to rank ninth in the MVC and she is 22nd in the nation with an .844 slugging percentage, in addition ranking tied for 31st in the country in homers per game (0.32) through games of April 28.  Wysocki has driven in a career-best 35 RBI and is 94th nationally in RBI per game at 0.92.

Wysocki and the Braves close out the 2019 regular-season schedule with a three-game weekend series at Southern Illinois in a battle for second place in the league standings.  The series starts with a noon doubleheader Saturday in Carbondale, Ill.
