PEORIA, IL – Bradley DH Eli Rawlinson was 2-for-3 with a double, a game-tying sacrifice fly and a go-ahead home run, helping the Braves (14-10) rally from a 5-0 deficit for a 9-6 non-conference baseball win against SIU Edwardsville (9-17) Wednesday night at Dozer Park.

On the heels of Tuesday's 10-0 win against Western Illinois, Bradley improved to 46-17 (.730) against in-state competition since the start of the 2014 season.

The Braves had to dig out of a hole to earn their latest win after the Cougars scored five unearned runs in the fourth inning against Bradley starter Jed Moscot

With the five runs in and two runners on base with two outs in the fourth, Sam Lund started a parade of relief help that kept the SIUE bats in check the rest of the night.  Lund got a strikeout to end the fourth, setting the tone for the relief corps – six Bradley relievers combined to allow one run on one hit over the final 5.1 innings.  Ironically, Brian Schrimmer (W 2-0) got the win, despite allowing the run in the seventh inning.

With the game tied, 6-6, in the seventh, Rawlinson put the Braves ahead for good by launching a solo home run deep over the left field wall for his third home run of the year.  His sacrifice fly in the fifth inning erased Bradley's early deficit by forcing a 5-5 tie.

Freshman 1B Connor O'Brien led Bradley's 13-hit effort by going 3-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored.  Junior 3B Brendan Dougherty was 2-for-5 with two RBI's, including an insurance run in the eighth inning.

The Braves will continue their season-long, 9-game home stand this weekend by hosting a pair of non-Division 1 opponents at Dozer Park.  Eureka will visit for a 6 p.m. game Friday, followed by noon contests Saturday and Sunday against RMU-Springfield.

NOTES:  Bradley entered Wednesday's game second in the nation with a 2.45 team earned run average … As only one of SIUE's six runs Wednesday was earned, the Braves lowered their season ERA to 2.39 … Each of Bradley's seven pitchers recorded at least one strikeout as the staff punched out 13 SIUE hitters overall … Senior RHP Allan Beer worked a scoreless ninth inning, walking one and striking out two, to earn his sixth save of the year, equaling the fifth-best single-season saves total in program history … Beer's 14 career saves are second only to the 18 saves by current Colorado Rockies farmhand Matt Dennis from 2014-16.
