Elijah Childs Named Bradley Athlete of the Month

Sophomore Elijah Childs of the men's basketball team is the Bradley Athlete of the Month, earning the honor after a fan vote for the month of March.

Childs led the Braves to their first Missouri Valley Conference Tournament title in 31 years during the month of March. Named the Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament, Childs averaged 12.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.0 blocks during three Arch Madness games. The sophomore scored 30 of his 38 points during the championship run in the second half as Bradley twice rallied from halftime deficits for the victory.

The forward then saved his best for the NCAA Tournament. Squaring off with fifth-ranked and eventual Final Four opponent Michigan State, Childs scored 19 points on 9-of-14 shooting to go with six rebounds and three blocks.

Named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference Third Team as a sophomore, Childs finished the season averaging 12.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.43 blocks per game.

Childs earned the Bradley Athlete of the Month accolades after a fan vote on the school's twitter account. He collected 61 percent of the vote to beat out Jillian Navarro of the softball team (15 percent), Luke Shadid of baseball (15 percent) and Taylor Ledwein of the women's golf team (9 percent).
