Game Recap: Softball |
PEORIA, Ill. – Junior Emma Jackson tossed a three-hit complete game shutout and junior Kealia Wysocki was 2-for-2 with a home run as Bradley Softball blanked Missouri State 2-0 Sunday afternoon at Petersen Hotels Field at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex.

Jackson evened her record at 4-4 on the season with the victory, scattering three Missouri State singles and striking out six in her fourth complete game effort of the spring.

She worked around a pair of two-out walks for a scoreless first inning and sat Missouri State (22-14 overall, 8-5 MVC) down in order in the top of the second before working around a hit and error for a scoreless third inning.

In the bottom of the third, Wysocki gave Bradley (19-15 overall, 6-5 MVC) the lead with a solo homer to leadoff the frame.  Wysocki's blast, which hit halfway up the scoreboard in right center, was her ninth of the season to tie her with fellow junior Allison Apke for the team lead.

The Braves added another run in the inning to take a 2-0 advantage.  Freshman Lucy Mead beat out a bunt single and stole second before coming around to score on an Apke single to center.

Missouri State had its best scoring chance in the top of the fifth after Hope Hamilton walked to leadoff the inning.  The Bears had runners at second and third with two outs, before Jackson got a fly out to end the threat.

In the top of the sixth, Missouri State's Madison Hunsaker drew a walk and Steffany Dickerson kept the inning alive with a two-out single through the right side of the infield.  Jackson got a fly out to left, however, to keep the Bears off the scoreboard.

A six-pitch top of the seventh for Jackson closed out the first Bradley shutout of the season as the Braves posted their first shutout of a Missouri Valley Conference opponent since blanking Wichita State 1-0 on April 9, 2017.  A pair of groundouts and fly out sealed the Bradley victory.

Bradley returns to action Wednesday, opening an eight-game road swing with a 3 p.m. doubleheader at I-74 rival Illinois State.
