NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A rain delay didn't put a damper on the opening day of the play at the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate for Bradley Men's Golf, with junior Charles Jahn atop the individual leaderboard and the Braves second of 16 squads in the team standings after Monday's action.

Sunday's practice round was shortened due to rain and overnight showers delayed the start of the tournament Monday morning.  With the teams finally able to head out to the course around noon, the originally scheduled 54-hole tournament was shortened to a 36-hole event, marking the fourth consecutive tournament Bradley has had altered or cancelled due to weather.

The Braves had one of their best days of the season despite the delay with Bradley carding a two-over par 286 Monday at the par-71 Richland Country Club.  The 286 was the lowest round of the spring and tied for the fourth lowest round of the season for the Braves, who sit one-shot behind first-place Samford; which shot a 285.  Southern Miss sits in third in the team standings three shots back of Bradley at 289, while Omaha and USC Upstate are tied for fourth at 292.

Jahn fired seven birdies during his career-best round of three-under 68 and is the individual leader after day one.  His previous career-best round of 69 came during the second round of the Flyer Invitational to wrap up the 2018 Fall schedule.  Three individuals finished the day one shot behind Jahn at 69 in a tie for second.

Senior Drake Bushong turned in his lowest round of the spring with a one-under 70 and is tied for fifth in the field, two shots off the lead.  He moved into fifth in career rounds played at Bradley (118), passing Dave Wettlaufer (1981-85) and has the most rounds played by a Brave since John Joyce concluded his time at Bradley in 1992 with 119.5 career rounds.

Fellow senior Michael Mounce is in search of his fifth top-20 finish of the season, closing Monday in a tie for 20th overall after firing a one-over 73.  Mounce is one shot out of a tie for 13th and two back of a tie for seventh after he closed his round with a birdie to finish his final nine holes at even par.

Senior Daniel Lensing opened the day with a birdie on the par-5, 507-yard 10th hole and carded three birdies during his round in which he shot a four-over 75.  Tied for 38th overall, Lensing sits two shots out of the top 20.

Branden Mounce rounded out the team scoring for the Braves in a tie for 53rd  in the 88-person field, shooting a six-over 77 Monday.

The final round of the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate begins Tuesday with tee times starting at 8 a.m.
