TERRE HAUTE, IN – After lightning delayed the start of the final regular-season series of the year, Bradley (31-16, 11-8 MVC) brought the thunder Thursday night, rallying for a 9-5 win at Indiana State (34-15, 11-8 MVC) at Bob Warn Field.

Steadied by reliever Cole Cook's work on the mound and Keaton Rice's efforts at the plate, Bradley dealt the host Sycamores just their second home loss in 15 games at Bob Warn Field this season.  The Braves also moved into a tie for third place in the Missouri Valley Conference standings with the Sycamores, one game behind second-place Dallas Baptist and two back of league-leading Illinois State with two games to play.

Bradley starting pitcher Mitch Janssen entered Thursday's game 4-2 on the season and eighth in the nation with a 1.46 earned run average, but the senior righty did not have his best stuff against the Sycamores.  He allowed four runs on five hits and four walks, including three in a row to start the third inning.

With Bradley trailing 3-2 and the bases loaded and no outs in the third, Cook relieved and silenced the Indiana State bats enough to allow the Braves to rally.  The senior LHP gave up a sacrifice fly on his first pitch, but retired the first 12 batters he faced.  By the time he allowed his first hit to lead off the seventh inning, Bradley led 6-4.

The Braves took the lead with four 2-out runs in the top of the seventh.  Freshman 1B Connor O'Brien and Rice both delivered 2-out, 2-run doubles in the seventh.  Rice drove home Bradley's first run with a RBI single in the second and capped the night's scoring with a 2-run home run in the ninth, finishing 3-for-4 with a walk and a career-best five RBI.

Bradley banged out 13 hits against four Indiana State pitchers Thursday.  Dan Bolt was 2-for-4 with a RBI double in the third and a solo homer in the ninth, Luke Shadid reached safely four times by going 2-for-3 with a walk and hit-by-pitch, O'Brien finished 2-or-4 with a 2-run double in the seventh and Andy Shadid was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.

The teams are scheduled to continue the 3-game series with a 5:30 p.m. CT start Friday, followed by the regular-season finale at 1 p.m. CT Saturday.
