NEW YORK – Former Bradley All-American Mike Tauchman started a new home runs streak for the New York Yankees Sunday by smacking his fifth home run of the season in a 4-2 win against Toronto.  The ability to hit the long ball has brought Tauchman's former Bradley outfield mate, Max Murphy, back into affiliated baseball.  Tauchman and Murphy highlight the latest Bradley Baseball Braves in the Pros Update.

The Yankees starting left fielder Sunday, Tauchman made a highlight catch in the sixth inning, before launching a 413-foot home run into the right field bleachers in the seventh inning, helping the Yankees (59-32) clinch the weekend series and maintain their 6.0-game lead in the American League East standings.  Both highlights are featured among the top videos on New York's homepage – www.yankees.com.

The Yankees had homered in Major League record 29 consecutive games, before the Mets ended the streak July 2, then homered in each of the final five games before the All-Star Break.  New York went without a home run in the weekend series against Toronto, however, until Tauchman's seventh-inning bomb Sunday.

In his 43 games to date for the Yankees, Tauchman is batting .231 with five home runs and 18 RBIs.  Since returning to the parent team from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre, Tauchman is 5-for-13 (.385) with a double, a home run and 4 RBIs.

After a torrid first half of the season playing for the St. Paul Saints in the independent American Association, Murphy had his contract purchased by the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday and he is expected to make his season debut with the Visalia Rawhide in the Class A Advanced California League.  Murphy was batting .343 with 17 home runs and 43 RBIs in 50 games for St. Paul and he led the American Association in runs scored (44), total bases (139), hits (73), home runs and slugging percentage (.653) as of Friday.

Murphy was drafted in the ninth round of the 2014 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Minnesota Twins, following his junior season at Bradley, and was on a steady rise through the Twins organization before he was released during last year's Spring Training.  A three-time league Player of the Week, Murphy earned a MiLB Gold Glove in 2017 as an outfielder for the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts and he was the 2014 Rookie Appalachian League Player of the Year.

Murphy will resume his Minor League career with a .265 career batting average and 165 RBIs in 360 career games.
