Vote for Female Most Outstanding Athlete

Fans are invited to vote for the 2018-19 Bradley Varsity Club Female Most Outstanding Athlete from a field of four finalists

PEORIA, IL – With the 2018-19 athletics year officially completed and the spring awards season in the books, it is time to select Bradley University's Varsity Club Male and Female Most Outstanding Athletes and fans once again are invited to participate in the selection process.
 
Following one of the most-successful seasons across the department in Bradley Athletics history, a total of eight student-athletes, four men and four women, have advanced to the final ballots for the Varsity Club Male and Female Most Outstanding Athletes and fans are being given two days to visit the department's official Twitter account - @BradleyBraves - to vote for their favorite finalists in each gender.  This week's fan vote begins with the four female finalists.  The Twitter poll is now open and voting will continue through 11:59 p.m. Tuesday night.  The fan vote for the four male finalists will begin Wednesday morning and continue until 11:59 p.m. Thursday night.  The two winners will be announced Monday, July 29.

Chelsea Brackmann, Women's Basketball
  • All-Missouri Valley Conference first team
  • MVC All-Defense Team
  • Team co-MVP
  • Set the Bradley single-season record with 327 rebounds, the 10th-best total in MVC history, and ranked 21st in the nation with a league-best 10.9 boards per game
  • Averaged 12.6 ppg and collected 16 double-doubles for the second-best total in program history and the best total by a Valley player since 2014-15
  • One of seven players in the nation and first Valley player since 2011-12 to collect at least 375 points, 325 rebounds, 35 assists, 30 blocks and 45 steals in a season
  • First Valley player since at least 1994-95 to post two 20-20's in a season, tying the single-game school record set in 1984-85 with 24 boards in one of those two efforts
  • Led the Braves to a 20-10 overall record and 10-8 league mark, the first 20-win season since 2008-09 and the best conference finish since 2009-10
 
Niamh Markham, Cross Country/Track
  • MVC Indoor Track champion as the anchor for the distance medley relay team, helping the Braves to their first title in the event
  • Two All-MVC awards:  indoor track DMR and outdoor 1,500m
  • Helped the Braves to the MVC Cross Country title with a 28th-place individual finish
  • Third on the team during the NCAA Midwest Regional, finishing 56th overall
  • Ran the second-best time (4:49.91) in program history, the best in eight years, in the indoor mile at Iowa State, as well as the third-best 800m indoor time (2:11.84) at Notre Dame
  • Posted the fourth-best time (4:26.20) in program history in the 1,500m at the Drake Relays
 
Sandra Maletin, Tennis
  • Teamed with Natalia Barbery to earn All-MVC first team recognition at No. 1 Doubles
  • Added MVC All-Select honors as Bradley's No. 1 singles player
  • With a 24-7 (.774) record at No. 1 Singles, she posted the best singles winning percentage by a Bradley player since 1992-93
  • Tied the program record with 16 wins in the No. 1 Singles position during the dual match portion of the season
  • MVC Singles Player of the Week three times (Feb. 12, Feb. 26 and April 16)
  • Led the Braves to a program-record 16-8 overall record and a 4-1, runner-up finish in the MVC
 
Yavianliz Rosado, Volleyball
  • All-Missouri Valley Conference first team
  • MVC All-Tournament Team after setting the tourney single-match record with 40 digs versus Drake
  • Finished second nationally with 758 total digs and third nationally with 5.97 digs per set, both school records
  • The 758 digs ranked as the 11th-best season total in NCAA history since the introduction of the 25-point scoring system
  • Three-time MVC Defensive Player of the Week
  • Three matches with at least 40 digs all topped the previous school record of 38, including her 42 digs versus Drake for the best total in the nation for a 4-set match in 2018
  • Led the Braves to a 24-9 overall record, including a third-place finish in The Valley (13-5), and the first postseason tournament appearance (NIVC) and win in program history
