NORMAN, Okla. -- Bradley Men's Golf team was one of 127 NCAA Division I men's golf teams to earn Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-Academic Team honors, according to a recent announcement by the GCAA.
The Braves earned the award for the fifth consecutive year, which included leading the Missouri Valley Conference in grade point average in 2014-15. One of eight MVC schools to be recognized in 2018-19, Bradley joins Evansville as the only Valley programs to earn the distinction each of the past five years and is one of 47 NCAA Division I teams to earn the distinction each of the last five years.
A college or university must submit the grade point averages for each player on its official squad list for the academic year in order to be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors. To qualify as an All-Academic Team, the team must have a cumulative 3.0 or better grade point average for the year.
Individually, six of the seven Braves on the 2018-19 roster landed on the Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll in at least one of the two semesters for registering a GPA of 3.30 or higher, including three individuals earning the distinction in both semesters.
Bradley has had multiple First-Team Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athletes in each of the last four years with the Braves boasting a league-best 12 First-Team Valley Scholar-Athletes over the last seven seasons.
Seniors Drake Bushong and Michael Mounce were both First-Team MVC Scholar-Athlete picks in 2018-19, while fellow senior Daniel Lensing took home honorable mention scholar-athlete honors.
Of the nine four-time All-Valley performers in league history, Bushong is the only individual to also garner First-Team MVC Scholar-Athlete three times and is just the third three-time First-Team MVC Scholar-Athlete pick in program history. Mounce took home First-Team MVC Scholar-Athlete honors for the second consecutive year.
