LEXINGTON, Ky. -- For the 13th time in the last 15 years, Bradley Volleyball earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, according to an announcement by the AVCA Monday.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average.

The Braves were one of nine Missouri Valley Conference teams to earn AVCA Team Academic Award honors and Bradley is one of just nine teams nationally to earn the distinction at least 13 times over the last 15 years, joining American, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Indiana State, Memphis, Southern Illinois, Toledo and Wichita State in the group.

Bradley earned AVCA Team Academic Award honors for the third consecutive year during 2018-19 and seventh time in the last eight seasons, after boasting a 3.547 team GPA for the academic year.  A record 1,125 collegiate and high school programs earned the distinction, including 189 NCAA Division I programs.

Individually, 13 players earned a spot on the Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll in at least one of the two semesters for registering a GPA of 3.30 or higher in 2018-19 including nine individuals earning the distinction in both semesters.  A total of five individuals took home MVC Scholar-Athlete honors, highlighted by senior Erica Haslag garnering First-Team Valley Scholar-Athlete recognition for a second consecutive year.

The Braves finished third in the MVC standings for the team's best league showing since 2001 and capped a 24-9 campaign with the first postseason appearance in program history (NIVC second round).  In addition to matching the best one-year improvement in MVC play in league history (+10 wins), Bradley had the second-largest win improvement (+14) in the nation in 2018.
