PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley Women's Basketball will make the second summer foreign trip in program history, with the Braves set to embark on a trip to Portugal next week.
The 2019-20 squad had the first of 10 scheduled practice days leading into the trip Thursday, July 25th and will play a total of three games during the excursion which will be Aug. 4-12. Bradley's only previous summer foreign trip was prior to the 2004-05 season when the Braves traveled to France and Amsterdam.
"Our team has been looking forward to this trip for several months and we are extremely grateful for this opportunity," said head coach Andrea Gorski. "The entire team understands that a foreign tour will not only help us prepare for the upcoming season on the court, but also allow us to experience a different culture and bond as a team at the same time. The extra practice time has allowed us to get a jumpstart on the season and our team has been working hard to represent our great university overseas."
First stop on the trip will be the coastal city of Porto, which is the second largest city in Portugal. After a day of touring Porto, Bradley plays its first game Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 3:30 p.m. (CDT).
From there, the Braves travel to just outside of Lisbon to the sea-side town of Cascais. In addition to cultural experiences while near the capital of Portugal, Bradley will play a pair of games during its time near Lisbon. The first Lisbon contest is slated for Friday, Aug. 9 at 10 a.m. (CDT) against the Belem Select Team. The Braves return to the court the next day to face the Lisbon All Stars Saturday, Aug. 10 at 10 a.m. (CDT).
