Game Recap: Soccer | | Bobby Parker, Associate AD for Communications
PEORIA, IL – Despite controlling play throughout the 90-minute regulation, the Bradley soccer team suffered its first defeat of the 2019 season with a 1-0 setback to Eastern Illinois on Friday night. The Braves are now 1-1-2 this season, while the Panthers improve to 2-3-0.

Bradley outshot the visitors, 19-6, on the night with a 12-2 edge in corner kicks but could not convert any of its chances as it saw its 17-game non-conference unbeaten streak snapped – just one game shy of the school record.

The Braves held an 8-2 advantage in shots in the opening 45 minutes and just missed a number of open chances and crosses in a scoreless deadlock. The Panthers then tallied the game's only goal in the 68th minute, taking advantage of its first corner kick of the night when Munir Sherali scored for the 1-0 contest.

Bradley continued to pile on the pressure after the goal. Roman Schindler had a shot go off the post before his rebound attempt was saved and Gerit Wintermeyer also forced a nice save from the EIU goalie off a free kick as the Braves were unable to find the breakthrough.

BU looks to get back to its winning ways on Sunday, playing at Northern Illinois with a 2 p.m. kickoff.
