CHICAGO – Bradley junior Sandra Maletin (Belgrade, Serbia) completed a perfect opening weekend by sweeping both her lone singles and doubles matches Sunday, highlighting the final day of the Chicago State Cougar Invitational Sunday.

Playing in her customary No. 1 position in both singles and doubles, Maletin cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win against Bellarmine's Ashley Jonathan Sunday to improve to 2-0 in early-season singles action.  Maletin teamed with senior Natalia Barbery for a 7-5, 6-2 win against Chicago's combo of Lee/Xu in her only other action of the day.  Overall, Maletin finished the weekend with a 5-0 combined record.

With Maletin setting the tone, the Braves swept seven singles matches Sunday against Bellarmine players.  Sophomore Bozana Lojpur blew through Ava Ratcliff for a 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 2 Singles, Barbery dealt Aubrey Smith a 6-2, 6-1 loss at No. 3 Singles and sophomore Nikki Perlwitz posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 Singles in their lone singles matches of the day.

While Victoria Sanchez Bronzetti, Nina Marjanovic and Kinga Kovacs all earned wins against the Bellarmine opponents, all three suffered losses against University of Chicago players later in the day.

The Braves played only two doubles matches Sunday.  In addition to the Barbery/Maletin win, the pairing of Lojpur/Perlwitz dropped a tough 6-4, 6-4 decision to Chicago's Ng/Wang pairing.

Overall, Bradley's seven players completed the opening weekend with a combined 19-6 record – 12-5 (.706) in singles play and 7-1 (.875) in doubles.

The Braves will continue the fall tournament season by hosting the Bradley Invitational next weekend at the Markin Tennis Courts.  The multi-team tournament is expected to draw players from Eastern Illinois, Illinois State, Saint Louis, SIU Edwardsville and Western Michigan and will begin with one round each of singles and doubles play Friday on the Bradley campus.
