Bradley Soccer Earns First Win of 2019

PEORIA, IL -- The Bradley soccer team claimed its first victory of the 2019 season with a 1-0 victory against IUPUI in the annual Danny Dahlquist Memorial Game at Shea Stadium on Friday night. The Braves extended their non-conference unbeaten streak to 16 games with the win and improve to 1-0-1 during the 2019 campaign. The loss drops the Jaguars to 0-1-1 this season.

Junior Gerit Wintermeyer scored the game's only goal in the 26th minute for Bradley's first tally of the season. The junior found senior Jha'Lon Johnson on the edge of the box and Johnson immediately gave it back to Wintermeyer. The junior forward then curled his shot from 20 yards out around the IUPUI goalkeeper and into the left corner of the net for the 1-0 tally.

Wintermeyer's goal was all the scoring the Braves would need as the BU defense once again shut down its opponent. IUPUI could only muster one shot on net in the 90 minutes of play (and none after halftime) as Bradley has allowed only one shot on goal in 200 minutes of play during the 2019 season.

Senior Nathan Wisbey recorded one save to earn his second-straight clean sheet in goal.

Bradley is back in action on Sunday, hosting Oakland at Shea Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
