PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley Women's Basketball senior forward Chelsea Brackmann (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) has been named one of 30 national candidates for the Senior CLASS Award according to a recent announcement.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

Brackmann is the fourth Bradley Women's Basketball player selected as a Senior CLASS Award candidate, joining Michelle Young (2013-14), Jenny Van Kirk (2009-10) and Kelly Krumwiede (2008-09) and is the lone candidate from the Missouri Valley Conference this season.

Currently third in the Missouri Valley Conference in rebounding at 8.7 boards per game, Brackmann is adding 9.0 points per outing this year. She started the season seventh in school history in rebounding and broke the Bradley career rebounding record in Friday's game against Loyola. Currently owning 845 career boards, Brackmann is 21^st in MVC history in career rebounding.

A health science major with a 3.57 cumulative grade point average, Brackmann was a First-Team All-MVC selection last year after leading the Valley in rebounding and breaking the Bradley single-season record with 327 boards.

A team captain, Brackmann shared team MVP honors last year and her breakthrough all-conference performance of 2018-19 came just months after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in August 2018.

The list of 30 national candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists in February. Those 10 names will then be placed on the official ballot for a nationwide vote. Fan balloting will be coupled with votes from coaches and media to determine the recipient of the award.

Brackmann and the Braves are 4-0 in MVC play heading into a 1 p.m. game at Valparaiso Sunday.
