Gabi Haack Named COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior guard Gabi Haack (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping Bradley Women's Basketball to a pair of road wins as the Braves improved to 5-0 in league play.

Haack, who was named MVC Player of the Week Monday, averaged 18.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 57 percent from the field in the two road victories. She scored a game-high 16 points and also had seven rebounds, three assists and one steal at Loyola, where she connected on a pair of three-pointers in a 60-47 victory. Haack followed that up by scoring a game-high 21 points on 6-of-8 shooting (4-of-6 from three-point range) in Sunday's win at Valparaiso as she became the 19th player in school history to score 1,000 career points. An elementary education major, Haack owns a 3.76 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Haack and Bradley Women's Basketball open a two-game home stand Friday with a 7 p.m. contest against Northern Iowa at Renaissance Coliseum. As part of the Spring Welcome Week activities, fans are encouraged to help the Braves "Cram the Coliseum" Friday. There will be a Teddy Bear Toss at halftime and fans are asked to bring in new stuffed animals to be tossed onto the court. The stuffed animals will be collected for the Cuddles for Kids organization to be used for therapy for children who are in need.
