Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Bobby Parker, Associate AD for Communications
PEORIA, IL – Junior Sandra Maletin turned in another impressive performance at No. 1 Singles and sophomore Bozana Lojpur earned a singles and doubles sweep, but it was not enough to prevent Murray State (2-0) from earning a 5-2 win against the host Braves (1-1) Saturday afternoon at the Clubs at River City.

Murray State, coming off a 7-0 morning win against IUPUI, squeaked out the doubles point against Bradley and then swept the Nos. 3 through 6 singles matches in straight sets to claim Saturday's team victory.

Lojpur and fellow sophomore Nikki Perlwitz evened the doubles action at 1-1 by earning a 6-3 victoy in the No. 2 position.  The opening doubles point came down to the No. 1 matchup, which remained on serve until the Racers pairing of Samantha Muller/Stasya Sharapova won the deuce point to break Bradley's final serve in a 7-5 victory.

Coming off a 6-2, 6-2 win in Friday's season-opener versus IUPUI, Maletin again cruised Saturday with a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Claire Chang at No. 1 Singles.  Maletin completely flipped the script against her opponent after dropping a 6-1, 6-1 decision in last year's matchup in Kentucky.  With her second win of the opening weekend, Maletin took over sole possession of 10th-place on Bradley's career singles wins list, improving her 3-year record to 47-23.

After earning a straight-sets win against Anja Loncarevic in last year's meeting against Murray State, Lojpur went three sets to defeat twin sister Sara Loncarevic Saturday:  6-4, 2-6, 11-9.

The Braves will be on the road for their next four dual matches, beginning Friday afternoon at SIU Edwardsville.  Bradley will visit Saint Louis Saturday evening, then will visit Kansas City Feb. 8 and Missouri Feb. 9, before returning home to host Milwaukee Feb. 16.
