EDWARDSVILLE, IL – In the only match remaining on the courts, Callaghan Adams rallied out of a 5-4 hole by winning three straight games to secure the clinching point at No. 6 Singles, lifting host SIU Edwardsville (2-0) to a 4-3 win against Bradley (1-2) Friday afternoon at the Edwardsville YMCA Meyer Center.

Bradley got off on the wrong foot by dropping two of the three doubles matches to fall behind, 1-0, but quickly rallied in singles as freshman Victoria Sanchez Bronzetti (No. 4 Singles), sophomore Nikki Perlwitz (No. 5) and junior Sandra Maletin (No. 1) all earned straight-sets victories by sweeping their respective second sets, 6-0.

The Cougars managed to rally, however, pulling even at 3-3 with straight-sets wins of their own at Nos. 2 and 3 Singles, setting the stage for the decisive No. 6 Singles match, which had a delayed start as the players waited for a court to open.  Adams opened her match against Nina Marjanovic with a 6-1 score in the first set, before rallying in the second set for the clincher.

Bradley continues its first road swing of the season by taking on Saint Louis Saturday in a 5:30 p.m. match at St. Clair Tennis Club.
