Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
Evansville, Ind. – The Bradley men's basketball team scored the first nine points and never looked back, cruising to a 72-52 victory at Evansville on Wednesday night. The Braves improve to 11-5 and 2-1 in Missouri Valley Conference action, while the Purple Aces slip to 9-7 and 0-3 versus league foes.

The 20-point victory marks Bradley's largest on the road against a conference team since posting an 83-63 victory at Evansville on Feb. 6, 2010.

Senior Nate Kennell led the Braves with his first career double-double, scoring a game-high 17 points to go with a career-best 10 rebounds. The senior also became the 49th player in program history to score his 1,000th career point in the winning effort.

Senior Darrell Brown added 16 points, while sophomore Ja'Shon Henry had 14 points and nine rebounds.

Bradley won the tip and on the first possession, Kennell – the nation's eighth-ranked 3-point shooter – found himself open on the outside. The senior sunk his first triple of the game to reach the four-digit milestone and give Bradley a lead it would never give back.

The Braves then added six more points before the Purple Aces finally found the scoreboard with Brown, Koch Bar and Kennell all scoring two-point baskets. The Bradley lead hovered around 10 for most of the half before the Braves scored the final five points of the period to head into the locker room with a 34-19 lead.

Bradley picked up in the second half where it left off in the first with a quick 5-2 run and forcing another Evansville timeout. The BU advantage reached as many as 25 points, 52-27, before the Aces used a late run to pull within a dozen, 55-43, The Braves, however, would quickly end any thoughts of a comeback with Henry scoring six-straight points as Bradley earned the 20-point road victory.

The Braves dominated the paint with a 40-18 edge inside, while also outrebounding Evansville, 48-30, and holding a 19-4 edge in second-chance points. Overall, the Braves finished the game shooting 41.4 percent from the field with a 7-of-19 clip from 3-point range. BU also held the Purple Aces to just 33.3 percent shooting.

Bradley returns home and welcomes Southern Illinois to Carver Arena on Saturday night. First tip is set for 7 p.m.

Game Notes: Kennell has made at least three 3-pointers in eight-straight games … The senior now has 1,116 career points … Five of Bradley's 11 wins this season have been by at least 20 points … The Braves have won four-straight games against Evansville and six of the last seven.
