Senior forward Elijah Childs of the Bradley men's basketball team earned Preseason All-Missouri Valley Conference First Team honors, announced by the league on Thursday.

The two-time defending MVC Tournament Champions, Bradley was selected third in the annual preseason poll, as selected by the conference's head coaches, SIDs and media members – BU's third-straight season with a top-four selection.

Childs was one of five players listed on the preseason All-Valley First Team. A two-time all-conference honoree, Childs was named to the league's second team following his junior campaign despite missing 12 games with an injury. He ranked second on the team with 14.8 points per game, while leading the Braves with 8.7 rebounds in addition to 1.4 blocks.

The senior forward has also keyed BU's back-to-back Arch Madness titles. Childs was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player in 2019, helping Bradley to its first crown in 31 years, before collecting All-Tournament Team honors in the Braves' title defense in 2020.

Childs enters his senior campaign ranked fifth in school history with 126 career blocks, 14th with 667 career rebounds and 48th with 1,037 career points.

As a team, Bradley received 341 total points in the preseason poll with one first-place vote. Northern Iowa led the 10-team rankings with 426 points and was followed by Loyola with 405 points. Indiana State (282), Southern Illinois (235) and Missouri State (210) rounded out the league's top six.

The Braves were last selected in the top four in the preseason poll in three-straight seasons during a five-year run from 1993-94 to 1997-98.

Bradley has won back-to-back Missouri Valley Championships for the first time in school history, while also qualifying for the NCAA Tournament in consecutive campaigns for the first time since 1954 and 1955. Overall, the Braves return six letterwinners and two starters as the team aims to become just the second program in conference history to win the MVC Tournament and NCAA automatic bid in three-straight seasons.
