PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior forward Elijah Childs (Kansas City, Mo./Lee's Summit West) has been named the first Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week of the 2020-21 school year announced Tuesday after earning all-tournament honors at the season-opening Xavier Invitational.

In addition to his all-tournament honors, Childs was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week Monday following the three games at the Xavier Invitational where he averaged 15.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.7 blocks, 2.0 steals and 2.3 assists per contest.  The senior forward scored a season-best 17 points against the host Musketeers on Thursday, while adding his first double-double of the season in Friday's win against Oakland with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Childs also landed on SportsCenter's Top 10 with an alley-oop dunk on Wednesday against Toledo that earned the No. 5 Play of the Day by ESPN.  A sports communications major, Childs owns a 3.38 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a student-athlete is selected as the Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
