Peoria, Ill. – The Bradley men's basketball team never trailed en route to a 23-point victory at Carver Arena on Thursday night, earning an 83-60 win over Jackson State. The Braves improve to 5-2 with the winning effort, while the Tigers drop to 0-4.

Four Braves scored in double figures led by a career-best 19 points from sophomore Ville Tahvanainen. The guard sunk 5-of-10 shots on the night, including 3-of-7 from 3-point range and all six free throws. He also matched his career high with seven rebounds and two steals.

Juniors Ja'Shon Henry and Terry Nolan Jr. each added 16 points in the winning effort, while senior Elijah Childs chipped in 10 points to go with seven rebounds.

Junior Ari Boya and freshman Rienk Mast led Bradley with eight rebounds, while Nolan paced the attack with five assists.

The Braves broke open the game with an early 15-5 run, turning a 5-4 advantage in to a 20-9 lead. Henry scored seven of Bradley's 15 points during the stretch, including a four-point play after being fouled on a made 3-pointer. Jackson State would only be as close as six points the remainder of the game before a 14-5 run to finish off the first half led to Bradley heading into the locker room with a 42-27 advantage.

Tahvanainen led Bradley's charge in the second half to secure BU's fifth win of the season. After scoring three points in the first 20 minutes of action, the sophomore tallied nine of Bradley's first 11 points as the Braves quickly pushed their edge to 21, 53-32. The Tigers were never closer than 17 the rest of the game as Tahvanainen's 16 second-half points led BU to the 23-point victory, 83-60.

The Braves shot 45.6 percent in the winning effort, while holding Jackson State to just 37.5 percent shooting. Bradley also won the battle on the boards by 17 with a 45-28 advantage.

Bradley wraps up its early-season five-game homestand on Saturday night, hosting Miami (Ohio) for a 7 p.m. tip at Carver Arena.
