Game Recap: Women's Basketball |
DAYTON, Ohio – Senior Nyjah White turned in her first double-double of the year (16 points & 10 rebounds) and fellow senior Gabi Haack added 16 points of her own as the duo helped Bradley Women's Basketball to a 66-61 road win at Wright State Wednesday afternoon.

Bradley (2-1 overall) overcame a sluggish start and early foul trouble to take a 35-32 halftime lead.  Wright State was able to build an early 10-point advantage (18-8 late in the first) thanks in part to a 5-for-14 shooting from the Braves to start the contest.

Haack took over in the second quarter, however, scoring nine of her 16 points in the frame.  Bradley ended up making eight of its final 11 shots from the field to close the first half after the slow start.  With her sister Lasha in early foul trouble, sophomore Mahri Petree stepped in to collect eight second-quarter points to help the Braves to the halftime advantage.

After Haack shined in the second it was White's turn in the third quarter as collected eight of her season high 16 points in the period.  She also finished with a game-high 10 rebounds as she notched her fifth career double-double.  Coupled with the hot-shooting second quarter, Bradley would eventually shoot 61.5 percent (16-of-26) between the early stages of the second quarter until the opening moments of the fourth.

Wright State (0-1 overall) went scoreless for the first three minutes of the fourth, allowing Bradley to pull away.  Mahri Petree got the scoring started with a layup and the lead would eventually hit 11 points (63-52 with 2:20 to play) thanks to a 12-4 BU spurt that included four points from Lasha Petree, who made three of four free throws in the final 16 seconds to help seal the 66-61 road win. Both Petrees finished in double figures, with Lasha making 7-of-8 from the free throw line to finish with 12 points and Mahri going 4-for-5 from the field as she collected 10 points.

Bradley is scheduled to return to action Sunday, facing Saint Louis on the road.
