GREENVILLE, NC – Bradley redshirt junior RHP Theron Denlinger (Cuba City, WI/Cuba City HS) has been listed among 70 relievers on the Watch List for the 16th annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper-of-the-Year Award given to the nation's top NCAA Division I relief pitcher, according to an announcement from the NCBWA this week.

Denlinger was one of the three Missouri Valley Conference pitchers to appear on the preseason Watch List, joining DBU's Burl Carraway and Illinois State's Jacob Gilmore.

A hard-throwing righthander, Denlinger joined the Braves for the 2019 season after transferring from Madison College.  He immediately settled into the back end of the Bradley bullpen last season and earned All-MVC second-team honors by going 1-2 with six saves and a 2.86 ERA.  With 24 strikeouts in 22.0 IP, Denlinger averaged 9.8 Ks per nine innings and the opposition managed just a .175 batting average against him in 2019.  Denlinger's 22 appearances last season led the Bradley pitching staff and tied for the ninth-most outings in a season in program history.  His six saves tied for the sixth-best single-season total in program history.

Denlinger is one of three Bradley players to receive national preseason recognition as the Braves prepare to open their 120th season this weekend.  Senior OF Dan Bolt (29th) and senior SS Luke Shadid (76th) both were rated among the nation's top analytical hitters in a D1Baseball.com preseason feature.  A preseason All-MVC selection, Bolt also was rated 33rd by D1Baseball.com in its Preseason Outfield Power Rankings, while Shadid was No. 12 in the Preseason Shortstop Power Rankings.

The Braves (31-19 in 2019) will open the 2020 season this weekend by visiting Incarnate Word (37-22) for a 3-game series in San Antonio.  Game times are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. both Friday and Saturday, followed by a 1 p.m. start Sunday at UIW's Sullivan Field.
