Four Days, Four Opponents, Four Venues

Bradley Baseball will face four different teams this week during the SAF Dirt Classic in Tennessee

Bradley Baseball (0-3) will visit the Volunteer State for its next seven games, beginning with its participation in the SAF Dirt Classic on the Interstate 24 corridor Thursday-Sunday.  The Braves will visit four teams during the four-game round robin:  Thursday at Middle Tennessee (0-3), Friday at Lipscomb (3-0), Saturday at Austin Peay (2-1) and Sunday at Belmont (1-2).  Fellow Missouri Valley Conference members Evansville and Missouri State will join Bradley and Samford as the four visiting teams rotating through the four sites.

SERIES NOTES
Middle Tennessee leads 3-2
•  All five games played at Middle Tennessee, beginning with a 1981 doubleheader sweep by the Blue Raiders.
•  The teams split a doubleheader last season.
 
Lipscomb leads 8-4
•  All 12 games played at Lipscomb, beginning with a single game April 9, 1971, won by the Bisons, 8-5.
•  Bradley last visited Lipscomb in 2013, winning 3-of-4 games split over two separate weekends.
 
Bradley leads Austin Peay, 10-7
•  All 17 games in the series played in Clarksville.
•  Series dates to a 3-2 Bradley win April 10, 1971.
•  Bradley has won two straight in the series, including last year's 5-3 win in 10 innings.
 
Bradley leads Belmont, 7-6
•  All 13 games in the series played at Belmont.
•  Bradley has won seven straight in the series, most-recently sweeping a 3-game set March 2-4, 2018.
 

FAMILIAR LEFT SIDE
•  Bradley entered the 2020 season with arguably the most-experienced left side of an infield in college baseball.
•  Senior 3B Brendan Dougherty is Bradley's active leader with 149 career games played and he has started 147 consecutive games at the hot corner.
•  Senior SS Luke Shadid is the first player in the modern era of Bradley Baseball to start every game of his freshman season (51) at shortstop and he now has started all 144 games of his career at short.
 

WEEKEND OF FIRSTS
•  Fourteen first-year Braves made their Bradley debut during the season-opening series at Incarnate Word.
•  Among the highlights, freshman DH Peter Hansen had an RBI single in his first career at-bat Saturday and completed the weekend batting .500 (3-for-6), while also drawing a walk for a .571 on-base percentage, in his first two college games.
•  After getting the starting nod as the DH in Friday's season-opener, freshman Carson Husmann launched a pinch-hit home run in Sunday's series finale for his first career dinger.  Husmann hit 31 home runs in high school.
•  Junior college transfer Adam Rellihan started at second base in all three games in San Antonio, batting .200 (2-for-10) with a RBI, while handling all 10 chances at second base.
 

SEVEN STRAIGHT IN TENNESSEE
•  Bradley will return to Tennessee next weekend, visiting Tennessee Tech for a 3-game series Feb. 28-March 1.
