MURFREESBORO, TN – A pair of Middle Tennessee pitchers flirted with history, holding Bradley without a hit for 26 outs, en route to a 5-0 victory to complete the opening day of the multi-venue SAF Dirt Classic Thursday evening at Reese Smith Jr. Field.

Bradley catcher Keaton Rice broke up the no-hitter with a 2-outs, 2-strikes bloop double off Blue Raiders reliever Adam Link.  Middle Tennessee Starter Zach Keenan (W, 1-1) pitched the first six innings, overcoming four hit batters and a walk by striking out seven.  Adam Link relieved to start the seventh and struck out six of eight batters before surrendering Rice's double.

Bradley has not been the victim of a no-hitter since Illinois turned the trick in a 7-innings game to start a doubleheader April 24, 1985.  The Braves have not been held without a hit in a 9-innings game since visiting Milwaukee April 28, 1972.

Bradley did get runners into scoring position three different times during the game, but could not break through against the Middle Tennessee pitching tandem.  Junior RHP Matt Hamilton (L 0-2) suffered the loss by allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits in his 4.2 innings.

Although he was 0-for-3, Bradley SS Luke Shadid did extend his on-base streak to 10 games when he was hit by a pitch in the third inning.

The Braves will continue the SAF Dirt Classic by visiting Lipscomb for a 2:05 p.m. game at Dugan Field in Nashville.  Bradley will visit Austin Peay Saturday and Belmont Sunday.
