NASHVILLE, TN – Belmont pulled off its third consecutive walk-off victory against Missouri Valley Conference competition, rallying from a 7-2 deficit for an 8-7 win against Bradley (1-6) Sunday afternoon in the final day of the SAF Dirt Classic at E.S. Rose Park.

After knocking off Missouri State (1-0) and Evansville (4-3) in 11 innings each of the previous two days, Belmont (6-2) scored six unanswered runs Sunday, capped by three hits and a walk to plate the winner with one out in the ninth inning, for its third consecutive walk-off win.  Its five-game winning streak began with a 4-3 win against Southern Illinois, giving the Bruins four, 1-run victories against MVC competition.

Senior SS Luke Shadid plated two runs in the second inning on a fielder's choice play, was hit by a pitch and scored the go-ahead run, 3-2, in the fifth inning and then launched a 2-run home run in the sixth.  Senior 3B Brendan Dougherty followed with a solo blast in the sixth, pushing Bradley's lead to 7-2.

After pushing across one run in the sixth on the strength of consecutive 2-out walks and a base hit, the Bruins forced a 7-7 tie with a 4-run outburst in the seventh inning against Bradley pitchers Jed Moscot and Theron Denlinger (L, 0-1).  The first six batters in the home half of the seventh reached safely on five hits and a walk.  Jackson Campbell's game-tying sacrifice fly was the first out of the inning.

After starting the bottom of the ninth with a fly out, the Bruins got to Denlinger with a single, a double and an intentional walk to load the bases.  Second baseman Drew Lowry then finished off the game with his second RBI single of the game.

Freshman RF Carson Husmann accounted for two of Bradley's seven hits Sunday, going 2-for-4 with a RBI double and two runs scored.

Bradley will return to Tennessee for its next three games, visiting Tennessee Tech for a 3-game set next weekend in Cookeville.
