WICHITA, KS – Bradley junior catcher Keaton Rice (Geneseo, IL/Geneseo HS) is one of 60 catchers from across the nation nominated for the 2020 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award, presented by the Kamerion Wimbley Foundation, according to the reveal of the award's official watch list Monday.

A two-time All-Missouri Valley Conference second team selection, Rice now has been named to the Catcher-of-the-Year Award watch list in each of his first three years with the Braves. Including the first 10 games this season, Rice has been Bradley's starting catcher in 98 games in his first three seasons and has climbed to fourth in school history by throwing out 40 runners trying to steal, while picking off 10 more baserunners. Perhaps more notably, Bradley's staff ERA was 6.82 during the 2017 season, the year before his arrival, but dropped to 4.88 in 2018 and then ranked eighth nationally at 3.37 in 2019.

In addition to his work behind the plate, Rice has proven to be a disciplined hitter for the Braves. He led all MVC catchers with a .316 batting average in 2018 and then ranked 35th nationally last season by drawing 0.87 walks per game, leading to a .422 on-base percentage in 2019. Through the first 10 games this year, Rice is batting .275 with a team-best five doubles, a home run and seven walks.

Rice is the only Valley catcher on the initial 2020 Buster Posey Award Watch List. Additions may be made through May 6, before the list is trimmed to 10 semifinalists May 19. The three finalists are to be announced June 3 and the winner will be announced June 25 at the 23rd Annual Greater Wichita Sports Banquet.
