PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior forward Elijah Childs (Kansas City, Mo./Lee's Summit West) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after earning all-tournament honors, while helping Bradley Men's Basketball to the 2020 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament title.

Childs, who was named a MVC Scholar-Athlete last week, averaged 14.7 points per game on 51.5 percent shooting and also collected 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per contest in Bradley's three wins at the MVC Tournament in St. Louis, Mo.  He tallied 17 points, eight rebounds a block and two steals to help highlight an 80-66 victory over Valparaiso in the championship game.  A sports communication major, Childs owns a 3.33 cumulative grade point average.   

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Childs and Bradley Men's Basketball will learn who they will face in the NCAA Tournament Sunday afternoon.  Fans are invited to the NCAA Selection Show Watch Party, presented by RSM, Sunday at Renaissance Coliseum.  Doors open at 4 p.m.
