Brendan Dougherty Named COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior third baseman Brendan Dougherty (Clive, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday.
 
Bradley's active career leader with 156 career games played, Dougherty's streak of 154 consecutive starts at third base is believed to be the third-longest active streak of consecutive games started by any position player in the country and the longest at the hot corner.  An honorable mention All-MVC selection at third base in each of his first three seasons, he completed the abbreviated 2020 season with a .301 career batting average.  The 2017 MVC Freshman of the Year and a Collegiate Baseball Freshmen All-American, Dougherty qualified for the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award in 2018 and 2019.  Dougherty is a sports communication major with a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. 
 
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
