The 2020 Kaboom! Awards, presented by RE/MAX Traders Unlimited and supported by PNC, continues today by highlighting the 2019-20 Bradley Tennis season.

Though the dual match portion of the season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, Bradley Tennis completed the first half of the spring season with a 7-5 record, giving the Braves consecutive winning seasons for the first time since a four-year stretch from 1990-94.

The team's dual match success followed a strong fall tournament season, which saw the Braves excel at the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships, as well as the ITA Central Region Championships.  Sophomores Bozana Lojpur (Flight 2) and Nikki Perlwitz (Flight 5) both swept through their respective singles flights at the MVC Individuals, delivering the fourth and fifth individual titles in program history. Lojpur's Flight 2 Singles championship is the highest-rated flight title in program history.

Bradley followed up its success at the MVC Individuals by collecting six combined victories at the ITA Central Region Championships, hosted by the University of Oklahoma.  Three of those wins came against Power 5 school opponents, two by Lojpur against Big 10 foes to join junior Sandra Maletin in the Singles Main Draw and one by junior Nina Marjanovic against a player from Arkansas in the qualifying consolation bracket.

The cancellation of the second half of the dual match season was the only opponent Maletin could not beat in 2020.  Bradley's No. 1 Singles player was a perfect 10-0 during the dual season and claimed her program-record sixth MVC Singles Player-of-the-Week honor March 10.

The 2020 Kaboom! Awards is set to celebrate Bradley Athletics during the month of May, transitioning to a virtual presentation throughout the month. Each year on the final night of spring semester classes, the Bradley Department of Athletics gathers at Renaissance Coliseum for the annual Kaboom! Awards, an event modeled after the popular awards shows in the entertainment industry (Oscars, Grammys, ESPYs) and recognizes all of the graduating seniors, spotlights the team and individual achievements from throughout the year. Traditionally preceded by a red-carpet reception, the awards show is filled with video and graphic tributes, which will be presented this year through the Bradley Athletics website, BradleyBraves.com, and the department's social media accounts -- culminating with the announcement of the 67th Charles Orsborn Award May 29 and viewing of the Moments of the Year May 30.

The presentation of the Megan C. Fong Inspiration Award will be showcased in Thursday's Kaboom! Awards feature.
