PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley Women's Basketball's all-time leading rebounder, senior Chelsea Brackmann has been named a repeat winner of the Varsity Club Most Outstanding Female Athlete award announced Thursday.

Brackmann is the first female to earn Bradley's Most Outstanding Athlete honor in back-to-back seasons since runner Mary Goldkamp earned the distinction in 2010-11 and 2009-10.  In addition, Brackmann is now the sixth female to earn multiple Most Outstanding Athlete awards.  Women's Basketball boasts the female honoree for the third time in the last four years (Leti Lerma in 2016-17), with Brackmann the lone women's basketball individual to claim the honor in multiple seasons.

A finalist for Bradley's Charles Orsborn Award, Brackmann helped the Braves to a school record 22 victories (22-7) along with the best Missouri Valley Conference finish (3rd – 13-5) in program history.  She was selected to the 2020 Women's Basketball Senior CLASS Award All-America second-team and is one of six student-athletes in Bradley Women's Basketball history to twice earn All-Missouri Valley Conference first-team recognition.

Brackmann's 953 career rebounds are good for ninth in MVC history.  This past year, she averaged 11.0 points and was second in the Valley in rebounding, pulling down 8.5 boards per contest.  Brackmann, who had five double-doubles on the year, ranked seventh in the MVC in field goal percentage (.529) for the highest season field goal percentage by a Brave since 2007-08.  In Valley play, she scored 12.3 points per outing on 57 percent shooting and pulled down 7.9 rebounds per game.

She finished 14th in Bradley Women's Basketball history with 1,108 career points and fourth with 126 career blocked shots, numbers she accumulated while battling illness (ulcerative colitis) in her final two seasons.  In addition, she earned a spot on the MVC All-Defensive Team in 2019-20, marking her second straight selection.

A health science major with a minor in health, Brackmann was named a NCAA Division I-AAA Scholar-Athlete in addition to garnering Second-Team MVC Scholar-Athlete honors.

Brackmann was selected for the award over one representative from each of Bradley women's programs, earning the honor from a field that included Ayah Aldadah (women's cross country/track), Taylor Ledwein (women's golf), Sandra Maletin (women's tennis), Hannah Thompson (volleyball) and Kealia Wysocki (softball).
