ST. LOUIS – Better than 90 percent of Bradley student-athletes received recognition from the Missouri Valley Conference for their academic achievement during the 2019-20 school year, according to a release of the league's three academic award lists Wednesday morning.

Of Bradley's 196 student-athletes during the 2019-20 school year, 180 qualified for the MVC Honor Roll, which recognizes academic achievement of student-athletes.  To qualify for the Valley Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have recorded a minimum 3.2 grade point average for a specified term (Fall 2019 or Spring 2020), must have been a member of an athletics team and must have been enrolled full time during the term they earned the honor.  Every member of the Bradley Men's Golf (six), Women's Basketball (12) and Women's Tennis (seven) teams qualified for the MVC Honor Roll.

In addition to the MVC Honor Roll, 65 Bradley student-athletes representing all 15 of the school's NCAA Division I teams, received the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award, which requires a minimum 3.5 grade point average for each of the previous two semesters, a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA and participation in athletics a minimum of two years.

Baseball pitcher Jed Moscot joins Women's Cross Country/Track runners McKenzie Altmayer, Erin Gallagher and Sam Lechowicz as Bradley's recipients of the 2020 MVC Presidents' Council Academic Excellence Award, which requires a minimum 3.8 cumulative GPA, participation in athletics a minimum of two years and progress to within 18 hours of graduation by the end of the Spring 2020 semester.

The latest recognition from The Valley adds to a lengthy list of academic accomplishments for Bradley student-athletes during the 2019-20 school year:
  • Bradley finished second in the annual MVC Academic Award standings with a 3.50 collective student-athlete grade point average for the year.
  • The Braves led The Valley with three student-athletes being named MVC Scholar-Athletes of the Year in their respective sports, while sharing the league lead with three recipients of the MVC Elite 17 Award as the student-athlete with the highest GPA to compete in the finals of their respective conference championships.
  • Baseball's Luke Shadid and Softball's Allison Apke both were named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans.
  • Men's Basketball's Nate Kennell joined the Women's Basketball duo of Chelsea Brackmann and Gabi Haack as I-AAA Scholar-Athletes as Bradley shared the national lead with three honorees in 2020.
