After helping lead the Bradley men's basketball team to its first Missouri Valley Conference sweep of the season, junior Terry Nolan Jr. was named the league's Newcomer of the Week, announced on Tuesday.

Nolan averaged 14.5 points in a pair of victories against Evansville, shooting 47.1 percent from the field. He also added seven rebounds, four assists and three assists in the two wins as Bradley improved to 3-1 in conference play. He opened the weekend series with a 16-point outing on Saturday, making 5-of-10 shots with five boards. He then helped the Braves complete the sweep with 13 points in the finale, including a 3-of-6 performance from beyond the arc.

Overall, Nolan has excelled in his first season in the Bradley Red & White. He ranks second on the team with 12.0 points and 3.3 assists per game, while leading the Braves with 1.67 – the second-best mark in the Valley and the highest average by a Brave since 2010-11. The junior transfer has had a big role right from the start of the campaign as he made a game-winning basket with 0.5 seconds remaining against Toledo – his first collegiate contest in 623 days – and added a second game-winner versus Miami (Ohio).

Nolan is the second-straight Brave to collect the weekly honor as Rienk Mast was named the Valley's Newcomer of the Week on Jan. 12.

Nolan and the Braves are back in action on Wednesday night, squaring off with I-74 rival Illinois State. First tip at Redbird Arena is slated for 8 p.m. on Marquee Sports Network.
