Bradley Track Opens Season Friday at Northern Iowa

The Bradley track and field team is back in action for the first time in 10 months, competing at the season-opening Jack Jennett Invite on the campus of Northern Iowa

Bradley is set to compete in Friday's track action, which begins at 1 p.m.

A total of 24 Braves are set to run this weekend in events ranging from the 60m dash to the 3,000m run.

2021 SCHEDULE UPDATE
Friday's meet is the first of four indoor track meets this winter in addition to two cross country meets.

Bradley will make two trips to Indiana State during the indoor season, competing on Jan. 30 and Feb. 13. The Braves will then wrap up the campaign at the MVC Indoor Track & Field Championship from Feb. 26 to Feb. 28, also on the campus of Northern Iowa.

The Braves are also slated to compete in cross county this winter, competing at Lipscomb on Feb. 6 before the MVC Cross Country Championship on March 3 at Evansville.

2020 INDOOR TRACK RECAP
The Bradley men placed seventh at the 2020 MVC Indoor Championship, while the women finished ninth.

Jake Hoffert collected all-conference honors for the Braves with a second-place finish in the 5,000m run to highlight the performance for the BU men. Jack Franklin added points in two events – finishing fourth in the 3,000m and seventh in the 5,000m -- while Joey Simon placed eighth in the 800m to score for the Braves.

McKenzie Altmayer recorded the top finish by the Bradley women, placing fourth in the 3,000m. Hannah Ivy also became the first Bradley sprinter to score in an individual event at the indoor conference meet when she placed eighth in the 400m dash.

BRADLEY DEBUTS
Nine Braves are set to make their first appearance in the Bradley Red & White this weekend.

Eight member of the Bradley women's track team will see their first action – Sierra Bryant (200m, 4x400), Kelsey Dalton (60m, 200m), Kyra Koontz (60m, 200m), Tiana LoStracco (600m), Ashley Maguire (mile), Reina McMillan (600m), Wilma Nielsen (800m 4x400) and T'ya Suber (60m, 200m).

Freshman Michael Rebello will also make his debut for the Bradley men, competing in the mile run.

UP NEXT
The Braves are back in action next Saturday, running at the Sycamore Team Challenge.
