Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
Peoria, Ill. – Loyola overcame a late deficit to earn a 65-58 victory over the Bradley men's basketball team on Monday night. The Braves are now 9-7 on the season and 3-4 in Missouri Valley Conference action, while the Ramblers improve to 13-3 and 8-1 in league play.

Junior Terry Nolan Jr. led the Braves with 17 points on the night, making 5-of-8 field goals to go with three rebounds and two assists. Senior Elijah Childs also added 12 points, while redshirt freshman Rienk Mast collected a career-best 11 rebounds.

The Braves started the game strong, contrary to Sunday's contest between the two teams. Bradley tallied the first eight points of the game behind five points from Childs and three from Nolan for the early momentum. The Braves maintained their advantage and led by seven, 24-17, before the Ramblers scored seven-straight for the first tie of the game at 24. Bradley, however, quickly reclaimed its edge and headed into the locker room with a 29-25 advantage.

Bradley once again came out strong in the second half and pushed its lead to double digits, 37-27. The Braves remained comfortably in front before Loyola made its move with seven minutes remaining in the game. Trailing 50-43, the Ramblers used a 17-4 run during a 6:46 time span to take a 60-54 lead with just 35 ticks remaining. The run was ignited by three-straight 3-pointers as Loyola went from trailing by six points, 50-44, to a one-point advantage, 53-52. The Ramblers then successfully made their free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.

Loyola shot 37.5 percent in the winning effort, with a 9-of-29 clip from 3-point range. The Braves made 40.7 percent of their attempts with a 6-of-23 day from beyond the arc.

The Braves look to return to their winning ways on Thursday with a one-game road trip to Valparaiso. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.

Game Notes: Elijah Childs extended his streak to 16 games to start the season of scoring at least 10 points … Mast's previous career high in rebounds was nine on Jan. 16 against Evansville … The Braves lost for the first time this season in game two of a back-to-back Valley series (now 2-1).
