PEORIA, IL – Two first-half goals in less than six minutes proved to be the difference as Drake earned a 2-1 victory at Shea Stadium on Saturday night. The Braves are now 2-9-0 on the season and 1-5-0 in Valley action, while the Bulldogs improve to 6-4-0 and 3-3-0 against league foes.

The Braves used a strong start to the contest to take an early lead. Malte Winkler sent a cross into the box that Jack Douglas headed off the crossbar. The rebound, however, found Pepe Mellado and he finished his chance for his third goal of the season and 1-0 lead in the game's 14th minute.

Drake, however, would claim the lead less than 13 minutes later with a pair of goals. In the 21st minute, Juan Louis one-timed a shot in from 12 yards out before Louis Yuill roofed a ball in from a wide angle in the 27th minute.

The two goals proved to be the difference as Bradley was unable to find the equalizer in the game's final 63 minutes.

Drake finished the game with a slight edge in shots, 12-10, while Bradley's attack drew 10 corner kicks to just two for the Bulldogs. Bryce Logan stopped five shots in net for BU.

Bradley takes a break from Missouri Valley Conference action with a non-conference tilt on Monday against Western Michigan. First kick at Shea Stadium is set for 4 p.m.
